Grafted in…

When Adonai spoke existence into creation, he established order. As he created man, he created A man, then took a rib from him to create A woman. He breathed his very life into his first creation, then used a special portion of the man to create the second. In the same manner, Adonai created this “order”; as he created his covenants with Abraham and his descendants first, only to create a new covenant with the whole world that would flow from the Jews.

Gerald McDermott makes this point in his book Israel Matters by quoting Yeshua (John 4:22) as he revealed himself to a Samaritan woman at the well. As she stood there completely shocked that a Jew would be talking to her, he tells her, “Salvation is from the Jews”. Jesus was laying the foundation for the New Covenant with a non-Jew. Messiah is born of the Jews, with all the Abrahamic covenants applied to His bloodline, and His blood poured out was going to fill the cup of the new covenant.

In Romans 11, not only does Paul teach us that God never rejected his people, but he also explains there is “Grafting in” of the Gentiles to the Israel remnant. Jesus taught His disciples that He is the true vine, and they are His branches; likewise gentiles benefit from a portion of Israel (the covenants), just like Eve receiving that rib back in the garden. His order was established, the second received a blessing that was bestowed upon the first.

Now Gentiles are alive in that vine, and the blood of Christ is what waters the branches to graft us in. To cut ourselves off from the previous branch we sprout from, is a dishonor that deserves the falling away that would result.

Be Blessed!
