The faculty of Introspection does provide strong evidence for Free Will.

I can tell you that you have Free Will, but you must choose to continue reading this post of your own Free Will. Without introspection, we can not fully grasp that we are free to choose between right, wrong, or any matter in the universe. We can operate in free will for our entire lives, but it is the faculty of introspection that causes us to gather the evidence to believe so. What is prayer? Is it not just spiritual introspection? In that faculty, do we not commune with a spiritual deity we come to know as God? What exactly did Jesus mean when he commanded His disciples to “Go into your Secret Place”? 

So in our introspection, we gather the evidence needed to believe we are free and possess what we determine to be free will. We can also gather the evidence to not believe we have free will. We can arrive at a belief that Determinism, or Divine Determination, is what actually governs man. That we are products of our past, or that God has everything planned out, either way, our choices are not our own. I have found it hard to do prison or homeless ministry, and profess that their situation was planned out before they were born. 

Three Bible scriptures come to mind as I write this paper: Isaiah 1:18, Philippians 2:12, and Galatians 5:1

Isaiah 1:18 God implores man to “Come now, let us reason together.” This should resonate with every Christ follower to be introspective through prayer with God Almighty. 

Philippians 2:12 “Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling,” meaning to be introspective to work out all the matters needed for salvation and sanctification.

Galatians 5:1 “It is for Freedom that Christ has set us Free.” Jesus rose from the dead to set us free, and that freedom should mean everything!
