Men after God’s own heart

1 Samuel 13:14 ESv
[14] …. The Lord has sought out a man after his own heart, and the Lord has commanded him to be prince over his people, ..
Acts 13:22 ESV
[22] And when he had removed him, he raised up David to be their king, of whom he testified and said, ‘I have found in David the son of Jesse a man after my heart, who will do all my will.’

To be a Man after God’s own heart! When I look at who David was, when I research this character that is approved by God, I not only see the Warrior King, but the Psalmist, the worshipper. The artist.

What makes the Sherriff different from the outlaw? They both have weapons, they both can fight.
We always correlate the Sherriff with that which is Good, Just, Righteous! “Blessed are the PeaceMAKERS….”
In the same manner, David had to possess something more than just being an almighty Warrior.(that was Joshua.) Justice and Righteousness had to be about him.
In the Sermond on the Mount, Jesus delivered to us the “Beautitudes,” and in doing so, he gives us a peek into that other side of a Man after God’s own heart.
‘Blessed, are the Meek….”

You have probably equated this to being Weak, to the degree of passivity, but that couldn’t be further from the truth!
Meek means a “Gentle disposition towards God.” That’s right…toward God. We spend so much time trying to be hard-cases and BAMF’s that we don’t even know when have the capacity to soften our hearts towards God.
This is why scripture speaks on “Humbling ourselves,” and why it is written “God resists the proud.”
In our prayer life, our “Secret place” we can be completely vulnerable, bear ourselves naked…for he’s directly into our hearts
This is why David played music butt naked in the temple. (Yeah it got weird)

The Sherriff learns what humanity is, the outlaw stays cold and hard. Jesus died for both, but the Sherriff capture what it means to live an Abundant life.
Its ok the play an instrument, paint, write…our God CREATED LIFE, and from our hearts creation can pour fourth.
Ever heard a Man say when he saw his child for the first time that he didn’t know he could create such beauty?

When God is alive in our hearts, we can go out and live what only seemed like dreams. We can stumble, and make mistakes, just like when David chose another mans wife. It was God in his heart that made him realize his prophets were correct when they told him he sinned. He could have had the scribes put to death, and that wrong doing blotted out from all records, he was the King…but he didn’t. He owned his mistake, and owning mistakes is the true mark of a man. How else do we learn from them?

Every man must follow his path obediently to the Promised land the Lord has for him. May His path for you be beyond all comprehension, may he forge you, may shape you….may he Mold you! He certainly did that for me. He wants to do that for you.

Always, always, always remember….
Revelation 1:5-6 NMV
[5] And from Yeshua [God is Salvation] Moshiach [Messiah], [who is] the faithful witness, [and] the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, [6] And has made us kings and priests unto God-The Father and his Father; to him [be] glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.
