In our current Bible study, we are on chapter 8 of the book of Matthew. The chapter starts out by telling the story of Jesus healing the leper.
Mat 8:1 When He had come down from the mountain, great crowds followed him.
Mat 8:2 And behold, a leper came and worshiped him, saying, Lord, if You will, You can make me clean.
Mat 8:3 And Jesus put out His hand and touched him, saying, I will; be clean! And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.
Mat 8:4 And Jesus said to him, See that you tell no one; but go, show yourself to the priest. And offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony to them.
Once I found what offering Jesus was talking about it started to make sense!
Lev 14:2 This shall be the law of the leper in the day of his cleansing. He shall be brought to the priest.
Lev 14:3 And the priest shall go forth out of the camp. And the priest shall look, and behold, if the plague of leprosy is healed in the leper,
Lev 14:4 then the priest shall command to take two clean live birds for him that is to be cleansed, and cedar wood, and scarlet, and hyssop.
Jesus was having the Leper go and testify to the priests to see what Jesus gives freely! The leper walks into the priests showing them he is cleansed, and he presents the offering as it was put forth to Moses, AFTER Jesus healed him.
Jesus was not condemning the law or the priests, He even said he came to fulfill it! He was telling the world the Messiah has arrived, and the new covenant is happening now!
Jesus wants to heal you with no contracts, no conditions, no payments. What he offers he offers freely. When Jesus heals someone their testimony becomes an outward spring, no payment is due.
Be Blessed!
