Political party polarization in the United States has been around since the Federalist Papers laid the foundation for the drafting of the Constitution, and the Anti-Federalist Papers were created in rebuttal. Ultimately, this was the debate on how we, the people, should govern ourselves and what restrictions should be placed on the Government. The Founding Fathers drafted the Bill of Rights to secure the inalienable rights of the people by limiting government overreach in our everyday lives. After the drafting of the Constitution, the debate began on how to interpret the laws and rights outlined in its framework. This debate has been between the different groups, or “Parties” of people who argue over its interpretation. This ongoing rhetoric has shaped our country’s history and eventually evolved into our current political environment. Today, political parties are attempting to win the hearts and minds of voters in our democratic society. This battle rages, and talking points devolve further from a unifying middle ground. The further apart these points get, the more drastic voters’ expectations become for their representatives’ delivery of campaign promises. They expect more! This is how the corruption of political idolatry poisons souls! They forget, or openly reject, the sovereign lordship of Christ! The Lion of the Tribe of Judah has ultimate authority over all! Life, death, time, power, money, it is all in His hands, in His Kingdom! Their paltry attempts to establish power over others matter not; a heart truly surrendered to His Lordship will never bow, nor fear. Christ will return and make all nations his footstool. Babylon will be crushed beneath his heel!
